Which I feel is great addition to the game. This allows players to explore more of the map outside their hex. You are also given the chance to raid sites for food and resources without any diplomatic effect with other factions. If you stack the bonuses up enough a ancient site is marked on the map for a little treasure hunting. Most rituals from gladiatorial arenas, dance parties, speeches, etc can be used in a variety of ways which essentially give your colonist a massive mood boost. The DLC gives you a wide variety of options. I haven't quite figure this part out yet, but in any case this is sort of a foothold and keeping your game organic as well as committing to a playthrough without having to open dev mode. Keeping moods low makes a pawns certainty bar low for its own ideology. Start doing rituals with a leader of a different ideology. You can do this by recruiting new pawns with different ideologies and give them the priest role and use the pawns convert ability. Or simply gravitate toward one of the others through conversion. In the case you find you dont like your ideology starting out, you can start a new game and change it. You just play the game and let the dice fall where they may. But if your like Randy Random, you won't care or spend the time customizing them all nor would you care about losing your ideology. So having to customize other faction ideologies you still get something you want. I usually see this with non-committed mode players when something doesn't go their way they will scum save or use dev mode. Some not doing a committed playthrough use dev mode to revive pawns and now will restore old ideologies they lost to another dominating ideology in their colony. The reason I say that, there have been complaints that players lose their ideology because they haven't figure out that the belief system right now can terminate your setup. I believe factions associated with those ideologies have a faction icon next to them. What I do is I Customize all the ideologies you see on the list. (yeah we all want a custom ideology save feature so we don't have to recreate it.) Aside from that. Being stuck in a ideology you don't want and being unable to control a change in ideology and thus losing out on the custom one you made. So I've been looking at what most players are talking about and its the somewhat restrictive feel of Ideology and the belief system.

If someone is a vet of Rimworld, Ideology shouldn't be that big of a leap. If someone is new to Rimworld I'd suggest Royalty first. There is definitely a learning curve with a lot of content thrown at you in the beginning.
